Is the Caribbean a country?

No, the Caribbean is a group of many countries. They are all independant, with their own govenments & monetary system.

What languages are spoken in the Caribbean?

English is widely spoken. Also very common is Spanish, French, Papiamento & Dutch.

Are there good resorts throughout the Caribbean?

The Caribbean has some of the best resorts in the world. Of course, companies such as Marriott & Hilton are well represented. Then of course there are companies such as Cable Beach Resorts, Luxury Resorts, Sandals, Couples and others that have amazing packages and places to stay.
 
Websites like Travelocity usually have a wide assortment of resorts to choose from. You will have to create a Travelocity account, but it may be well worth the trouble in the long run. If you don't like Travelocity, Expedia and Priceline are other travel websites where you can book your airline and hotel.




Is the water safe to swim in?

Although there are sharks and jelly fish throughout the caribbean, it is generally safe to swim. Shark attacks are rare, and jelly fish stings are usually not fatal. Since the Caribbean water is so clear, it is easy to see the critters swimming with you.

How is the food in the Caribbean?

Obviously, if you are a seafood lover, the Caribbean will be heaven. However, you can get steaks, chicken and even McDonalds on most Caribbean islands. Generally, the food is quite good. Aruba is known for their great restaurants. The most famous being El Gaucho, an Argentinian steak house that is highly recommended.

Will it rain?

Some of the Caribbean islands are actually rain forests. Aruba happens to be a desert island and it rains very little there. Most of the islands have their rainy season and dry season. The good news is that usually, when the USA is having winter, it is the dry season in most of the islands.
